This majestic volcano has always fascinated poets and historians.

It has been narrated since the 6th century B.C. by the poet Pindaro and the Greek authors Aeschylus and Euripides have also set some of their tragedies in these places.

You can explore the caves and walk through birch and beech woods. On the southern slopes, at an altitude of 1700 meters, there is the botanic garden Nuove Guissonea, a 10 hectare area which reach the Galvarina Plateau, here you can enjoy the view and have a rest in a mountain hut.
